A shooting on Staten Island has left a 39-year-old woman dead and a 27-year-old man in critical condition, with police investigating the incident as an attempted murder-suicide. Authorities were called to a home on Garth Court shortly after 11 a.m. on Thursday following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman with a gunshot wound to the torso and the man with a head wound. Both individuals were transported to Staten Island University Hospital. The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the man remains in critical condition.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released. Sources indicate that the pair were in a relationship. Police have not yet disclosed the motive for the shooting or who is believed to have fired the shots.
