A woman has recovered after being bitten by an alligator while swimming in Florida's Silver River, according to officials. The attack occurred Saturday in Marion County, south of Gainesville.
Good Samaritans pulled the woman from the water and transported her to a local hospital. Her condition at the time of the rescue was not immediately clear.
Following the incident, trappers responded to the scene and located a large alligator. The trappers removed a 9-foot, 8-inch alligator from the river. The Silver River has since been reopened to the public, county officials confirmed.
