A 53-year-old woman was arrested in Liverpool after police seized more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, valued at approximately £10 million, during a raid on a property in Old Swan. The seizure occurred on Wednesday as part of "Project Medusa," an operation focused on dismantling county lines drug networks and addressing child criminal exploitation.

The woman was taken into custody on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and is currently being questioned by authorities. This incident marks the second significant cocaine seizure in Merseyside this week.

On Tuesday, detectives recovered an estimated 38 kilograms of cocaine, with a street value of about £2.6 million, from a van in Roby. Merseyside Police stopped and searched a grey Volkswagen van on Bridge Road, discovering five large shopping bags filled with what is believed to be cocaine. A 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with this seizure on suspicion of drug supply and possessing criminal property.

Detective Inspector Gary Stratton of Merseyside Police stated that the Old Swan property was used to conceal over 100 kilograms of cocaine. He emphasized the damaging impact of organized crime on communities, citing intimidation, violence, and fear. Project Medusa aims to remove illicit drugs and apprehend those involved in storing them, while also disrupting county lines gangs and protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
