A woman is on trial accused of causing the death of her infant daughter by exposing her to significant and sustained heat from a hairdryer. Courtney Gartshore, 27, faces a charge of culpable homicide in connection with the death of her three-month-old daughter, Dahlia-Rose Gartshore, in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, on September 30, 2023.
Prosecutors allege that Gartshore, while in sole charge of her infant, consumed alcohol and took the Class B drug mephedrone. The court heard that the child's injuries were allegedly so severe that they resulted in her death. Gartshore has pleaded not guilty to the charge of culpable homicide, as well as other charges, at the High Court in Aberdeen.
