A wolf was observed stalking a tourist hiking in Yellowstone National Park's Lamar River Valley, an event captured on video that has since gone viral. The intense encounter prompted park rangers to respond and temporarily close the area.

The footage, shared on Instagram by user @awolfadventure and captured by Deric Smith and Sean, shows a lone wolf following a hiker closely on a trail. The hiker eventually used spray to deter the animal.

According to reports, the tourist, identified as Ignicio, remained calm and followed proper procedures by not running from the wolf. Smith, who was observing the situation with a spotting scope, noted that the wolf appeared particularly focused on the hiker. Park rangers arrived on the scene and took a report from the hiker, with Smith's video also being provided to them. Following the incident, the park service reportedly considered closing the affected area.

While the encounter was described as exciting and nerve-wracking, the tourist was unharmed. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of wildlife encounters in national parks and the importance of maintaining a safe distance from wild animals. Park officials often advise visitors to be aware of their surroundings and to carry deterrents like bear spray when hiking in areas with potentially dangerous wildlife.
