WNBA Playoffs: Dallas Wings Force Game 3 Against Golden State Valkyries
Arike Ogunbowale's 45-point performance in Game 2 has extended the series, setting up a decisive matchup.
The WNBA Playoffs will continue to Game 3 between the Dallas Wings and the Golden State Valkyries, following a 45-point performance by the Wings' Arike Ogunbowale in Game 2.
The series was extended after Ogunbowale's offensive outburst, in which she scored 45 points in 42 minutes. She shot 52% from the field, 63% from three-point range, and nearly 90% from the free-throw line.
While the Wings are built around young stars like Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, it has been Ogunbowale carrying the scoring load in this playoff series. Fudd has been sidelined for most of the season due to injury.
The Golden State Valkyries, conversely, are described as a deep, well-rounded team. Gabby Williams has been a key contributor for the Valkyries, scoring 20 points in Game 1 and 36 points in Game 2. She is supported by four teammates who are averaging over 10 points per game.
The Valkyries have a strong home-court advantage, having posted a 17-5 record at home this season, compared to the Wings' 11-11 record on the road. The series will return to Golden State for Game 3.
Earlier playoff action saw the Las Vegas Aces defeat the Indiana Fever in Game 3, and the New York Liberty sweep their series, eliminating the regular season's top team.
