The WNBA has removed a video from its social media channels that featured star players Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers discussing a bet they made on a league game. The clip, posted on the league's official X account on Wednesday night, showed the players making a friendly wager of $400 on the outcome of a game between the Dallas Wings and the Atlanta Dream.

The video captured a conversation where a WNBA social media team member asked Bueckers about a bet she and Reese had made at the recent All-Star Weekend. Bueckers appeared to confirm the wager, and the clip then showed Reese with hundred-dollar bills, seemingly finalizing the bet.

Hours after its initial posting, the video was deleted, prompting accusations that the league exacerbated a potential gambling scandal. The WNBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement includes strict rules regarding player betting. Section 5(c) of the agreement states that any player found to be wagering, or attempting to wager, on the outcome or any other aspect of a WNBA Competition is subject to fines, suspension, or dismissal, at the discretion of the Commissioner.

It remains to be seen if WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert will take any action against Bueckers or Reese. This incident comes amid ongoing scrutiny for the league, with players like Caitlin Clark having recently spoken about the emotional toll of intense media attention and physical play. Additionally, a separate controversy involved Sophie Cunningham's comments on biological men in women's sports and alleged fan interactions at a Seattle Storm game.

In the game itself, the Atlanta Dream, with Reese scoring 22 points and securing 12 rebounds for her 18th double-double of the season, defeated the Dallas Wings 82-81. The Dream have won four of their last six games. Bueckers contributed 16 points for the Wings, while Jessica Shepard added 16 points and 14 rebounds, marking her 19th double-double of the season.
