Wladimir Klitschko Seeks Investigation into Pawned Jewelry of Late Ex-Fiancée Hayden Panettiere
Former boxer claims items belonging to the late actress were sold after her death and requests guardianship of their daughter's estate.
Wladimir Klitschko, former fiancé of the late actress Hayden Panettiere, is requesting a law enforcement investigation into claims that jewelry belonging to Panettiere was pawned after her death.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Klitschko, 50, believes a non-family member previously associated with Panettiere pawned some of her belongings. He stated that a pawn shop refused to provide details about the items without law enforcement involvement, raising concerns about the potential sale of these items to third parties.
Klitschko's legal filing seeks authorization to initiate a law enforcement investigation for the recovery of Panettiere's property. This action follows his recent request to be named guardian of the estate of their 11-year-old daughter, Kaya.
In the Sept. 24 filing in Los Angeles, Klitschko sought temporary guardianship of Kaya’s estate, emphasizing that their daughter, who resides with him in Ukraine, is entitled to all of Panettiere’s assets. He described the appointment as “urgent and essential” for him to manage Kaya’s inheritance on her behalf.
Klitschko also indicated in the court documents that federal agents had entered Panettiere’s Los Angeles residence and removed property belonging to her estate. He noted that prior to her death, a security service had been hired to protect Panettiere’s home and its contents due to concerns about unauthorized access.
Court documents state that locks on Panettiere's home were changed after her death, and storage units containing designer clothing and accessories have been relocated as a precaution. Klitschko also alleged that personal items, including jewelry, have disappeared or remain unaccounted for.
Sources close to Panettiere’s family have expressed support for Klitschko’s filing, telling TMZ, “Wlad is a great father, and we are grateful.”
Panettiere's parents, Lesley Vogel and Skip Panettiere, have reportedly had disagreements regarding the jewelry the actress was wearing at the time of her death. The coroner’s report indicated she was wearing stud earrings, which were removed during the autopsy and placed in a locker. One parent requested the earrings be sent to North Carolina, while the other wanted them sent to an address in California.
The report stated that both parties were informed the jewelry would not be released until an agreement was reached.
Hayden Panettiere died on August 16 at the age of 36 in Greenville, South Carolina. The Greenville County Coroner's Office determined the cause of death to be the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine, ruling the manner of death as accidental.
Following Panettiere’s death, Klitschko shared a tribute on Facebook, including a photo of himself, Panettiere, and their daughter. He described the period as one of “profound shock and grief” and noted that the actress “left this world far too soon.”
