A Wisconsin mother has been charged with reckless homicide and child neglect after her 3-week-old infant son died from methamphetamine toxicity, according to court documents.

Jessie Lee Kittelson, 23, was arrested on March 14 after law enforcement responded to her home in Trimbelle, Wisconsin. Responders found the infant unresponsive, not breathing, and with a blue complexion. Paramedics attempted CPR, but the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities later determined the infant's cause of death to be methamphetamine toxicity. Kittelson admitted to using methamphetamine throughout her pregnancy and also disclosed that she had ingested the drug three days prior to her son's death.

Kittelson also told authorities that she had breastfed her son, having pumped and discarded milk in the days following her meth use, before breastfeeding him again. Investigators noted that she had searched online for information regarding how long methamphetamine remains detectable in breast milk.

Taylor Jae Olson, 26, Kittelson's partner, allegedly admitted to purchasing methamphetamine for both of them. Both Kittelson and Olson have been charged with first-degree reckless homicide and chronic neglect of a child. These charges carry a potential sentence of up to 60 years in prison.

It remains unclear if either defendant has legal representation. A court appearance is scheduled for September 2 in Pierce County.
