Will Ospreay successfully defended his All Elite Wrestling (AEW) World Championship against Jon Moxley in a hard-fought match at AEW All Out. The victory marked Ospreay's first title defense since winning the championship.
Championship Defense
The bout saw Ospreay face challenges not only from Moxley but also from interference by The Death Riders faction. Despite the odds, Ospreay persevered, ultimately defeating Moxley to retain his title.
Moxley employed a methodical strategy, attempting to inflict significant damage with moves like a DDT from the top turnbuckle and a piledriver in the center of the ring. Ospreay, however, showed resilience, countering Moxley's offense and eventually hitting a decisive Hidden Blade for the pinfall.
The match's conclusion also saw moments of external involvement, with members of The Death Riders entering the ring to assist Moxley, though Ospreay's allies, Andrade El Idolo and "Speedball" Mike Bailey, intervened to even the odds. Even Moxley was seen deliberating with a briefcase in hand before using it against Ospreay, but it wasn't enough to secure the win.
Following the match, Ospreay and Moxley exchanged a handshake, suggesting a potential end to their rivalry.
Looking Ahead
In the post-event media scrum, Ospreay announced his next challenger: Kazuchika Okada. The two are set to face off for the AEW World Championship at Grand Slam France on October 6.
Ospreay had previously developed a complex relationship with Moxley and The Death Riders, splitting from the faction before his championship match against Kenny Omega at All In. Despite the split, Moxley had given Ospreay his support before the All In event. The All Out match, however, appeared to finalize Ospreay's separation from The Death Riders, especially after he ignited their flag before the fight began.
