Will Friedle Hospitalized for Kidney Stone After Peeing Blood
'Boy Meets World' actor Will Friedle detailed a recent health scare on his podcast where he experienced the alarming symptom and was diagnosed with a kidney stone.
Will Friedle, known for his role as Eric Matthews on the ABC sitcom "Boy Meets World," was recently hospitalized after discovering he was urinating blood. The 50-year-old actor shared the experience on his podcast, "Pod Meets World."
Friedle recounted waking up in the middle of the night to find blood in his urine. His wife, Susan Martens, noticed his pallor, prompting their decision to seek medical attention. At the hospital, Friedle was diagnosed with a kidney stone. He joked on the podcast about potentially having to leave the recording session early to pass the stone.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, blood in the urine is a common symptom associated with kidney stones.
During his hospital stay, Friedle noted that many medical staff recognized him from his "Boy Meets World" days. He described the experience humorously, stating, "For some reason, on this day, in that hospital, I was more famous than I’ve ever been in my life." He added that one nurse even performed his character's signature "Feeny call."
This is not the first time Friedle has spoken openly about health challenges. He has previously discussed his long-term struggles with anxiety. In January 2026, he revealed on "Pod Meets World" that he first experienced severe anxiety while filming the final season of "Boy Meets World" in the late 1990s. At the time, he was 23 and had been on medication for about a month, which he said contributed to weight gain and a feeling of his life spiraling.
Friedle previously explained that his anxiety led him to shift towards voice acting roles instead of on-screen parts, as he felt more comfortable with that medium. However, he has also shared that as he has gotten older, he has developed better coping mechanisms for his anxiety, describing it as something that becomes a "nuisance" rather than something that dictates his life.
