Cami Clark, the wife of Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, has a past that includes interactions with Jeffrey Epstein, failed business ventures, and a significant shift toward privacy.
Clark, 47, reportedly pitched a women-centered porn website called Eddice to Epstein in 2011. She and Eddice cofounder Michelle Capocefalo were introduced to Epstein by literary agent John Brockman. Documents from the Department of Justice indicate Brockman frequently connected Epstein with academics and Silicon Valley figures.
According to reports, Clark emailed Epstein about the venture, which she described as a "free luxury porn company." While Epstein declined to invest, stating "Can't do sex TV," he and Clark continued to interact for approximately two years. Clark also reportedly pitched him on a "social dieting app" geared toward women.
Before her involvement with Eddice, Clark filed for bankruptcy in 2009, two years after a lender foreclosed on her San Francisco apartment. She also engaged in an age-gap relationship at 20 with a partner over 40 years her senior.
Clark's earlier business endeavors also included a failed attempt at starting a new venture fund called the Mother of AGI fund, which would have formalized her involvement with Anthropic, a company founded by her future husband. This plan was reportedly not supported by other cofounders.
Clark dated former Google CEO Eric Schmidt for three years, from 2011 to 2014. During their relationship, she is credited with convincing him to invest in Anthropic. Shortly after their breakup, she began dating Amodei.
Amodei, who co-founded the artificial intelligence company Anthropic after leaving OpenAI, married Clark in 2022. Clark has been described as vital to Anthropic's success, helping to find investors and playing a role in the company's launch. She is often seen accompanying Amodei at public events. Despite her contributions, Clark has reportedly sought to minimize her public presence, making it difficult to find traces of her online. Anthropic's chatbot, Claude, does not confirm the marital status of Amodei and Clark.
