A woman who was fatally shot along with her six children by her husband had accused him of having an affair with a younger intern in explosive online posts, according to a report. The incident occurred at their Grand Haven Township, Michigan, home.

Kristopher Karolkiewicz, 47, is accused of fatally shooting the children, who ranged in age from 5 to 15, and his wife, Amanda “Mandy” Karolkiewicz, 39. Police stated that Karolkiewicz then set the home on fire before taking his own life with a firearm.

In Reddit posts made under the username MandyK1179 in the years leading up to the incident, Mandy Karolkiewicz described a troubled marriage. In one post from 2024, she wrote about meeting her husband when she was an intern and he was older and divorced. She detailed how, ten years later and after having five children, he was allegedly cheating with an intern who was the same age she had been when she was the intern.

"After about a year of self-loathing, I remember crying and looking at myself in the mirror and realizing how... I was the one who was living so miserably because of what he did," she reportedly wrote. She added, "I finally realized that I had been the only person who has ever showed up for myself my whole entire life."

Karolkiewicz also indicated in her posts that she would have left her husband if not for their six children, two of whom were adopted. "I kept telling myself, ‘I love my kids more than I hate my husband right now,’" she wrote. "They have no idea — I faked it ’till we made it. We’re in a much better place 4.5 years out, but it’s still a fight to stay in a healthy place."

Law enforcement officials investigated the scene of the fatal house fire on Friday, July 24, 2026.
