Natalie Cockburn has had all 29 charges against her dropped, while her husband, Darren Tennent, continues to face numerous drug-trafficking and possession charges. The couple was arrested earlier this year following a police raid on their Mount Waverley home.
During a brief hearing at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, charges against Ms. Cockburn were dismissed. However, Mr. Tennent, 42, remains accused of trafficking commercial quantities of ecstasy and heroin, as well as possessing other substances including speed, cocaine, and various steroids. Police allege they seized large amounts of ecstasy and heroin from the residence.
Tennent also faces charges related to the alleged proceeds of crime, with police claiming to have found $10,120 in cash and a Rolex watch suspected to be illicit gains at his home. Further, approximately $45,000, also suspected to be proceeds of crime, was allegedly found in Rosebud on February 20.
Lawyers for Tennent indicated that his case is nearing a resolution, although disputes remain regarding the proceeds of crime charges. His bail has been extended, and he is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
The couple were represented by separate legal teams, and recent social media activity, or lack thereof, has fueled speculation about the status of their marriage. Ms. Cockburn is understood to work in Melbourne's health and fitness industry, while Tennent's online employment is listed as a sales manager. He has previously shared images of a jet-set lifestyle on social media.
