Wife Charged with Murder After Husband's Death on Anniversary Trip

A Queensland woman has been charged with murder after her husband died from critical injuries outside their Fernvale home on Sunday evening, shortly after they returned from a camping trip to celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary.

Lacey-Jay Bullock, 45, is accused of hitting her husband, 50-year-old Bradly Bullock, with their white Holden Commodore station wagon in their driveway around 5:55 p.m. on Sunday. Police have charged her with one count of domestic violence murder and one count of disqualified driving. The vehicle has been seized.

The couple had been on a camping trip to Bribie Island, and Bradly Bullock had posted a photo on Facebook on Friday wishing his wife a happy anniversary. He died two days later in front of his son, Hayden, 25.

Dave Bullock, the victim's father, revealed that the couple's marriage had been marked by volatility and domestic violence. He stated that his son had lived with him for several months after being released from jail late last year, during which time he had reportedly straightened out and stopped drinking. However, upon his parole ending, Bradly Bullock found a welding job near his home in Fernvale and returned there.

Ipswich District Detective Inspector Mick Manago confirmed that the couple were known to police for domestic and family violence matters. "We're very committed to keeping the public safe, so it's something that I don't condone and has no place in society," Manago stated.

The couple had two children together, Hayden and Layla, and Bradly Bullock was also a father figure to his wife's daughter, Beth. The victim's father shared that Hayden, who has special needs, witnessed the incident and is struggling to cope.

Beth Bullock posted a tribute to her father on social media, expressing her grief and love. Neighbors reported hearing raised voices before the incident and are believed to have restrained Lacey-Jay Bullock until police arrived. Some neighbors attempted to administer CPR to Bradly Bullock before paramedics arrived, but it was too late.

Lacey-Jay Bullock was held at the Ipswich watchhouse and was scheduled to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Bradly Bullock and his father shared a passion for vehicles, and they were in the process of restoring a 1972 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle together. "I will miss him, for the rest of my life, however long I've got," Dave Bullock said. "If you have kids, hug them close. You never know when the last time you're going to see them."
