Widow Demands Probe into McLaren Crash That Killed Husband and Hooters Calendar Girl
Attorney for the wife of car influencer James Wehr questions the presence of water on the roadway and the vehicle's safety systems.
The widow of car influencer James Wehr, the owner of South OC Cars and Coffee, has called for an investigation into the crash that killed her husband and 22-year-old Alexis "Lexi" Kramer last Saturday.
Emma Wehr, through her attorney Corey Higgins, is demanding a probe into the source of water that covered the roadway on the night of the fatal incident. Higgins stated that the firm is actively investigating how the water appeared, how long the condition existed, and who may be responsible. He also indicated they are examining the crashworthiness of Wehr's 2019 McLaren supercar and its safety systems.
Wehr, 27, and Kramer were on a drive in Irvine when Wehr reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The McLaren struck a tree, splitting the car in half and igniting a fire that killed both occupants. Investigators with the Irvine Police Department believe speed was a factor in the collision.
Dashcam footage obtained by TMZ appeared to show the McLaren speeding away from a traffic light before hitting a section of the road that seemed to be covered in water. The video captured Wehr losing control, braking, swerving, and then colliding with the tree.
An hour before the crash, Wehr was pulled over by Newport Beach Police and received a warning, according to a spokesperson for the Irvine Police Department.
Kramer, a bartender and a 2026 Hooters calendar girl, had met Wehr through Instagram. Her family stated that Wehr had flown her to California from Florida, telling her he was divorcing his wife. Kramer shared Wehr's passion for cars and had attended his auto show earlier on the day of the crash.
Friends and family of both Wehr and Kramer have shared tributes online. Emma Wehr posted an emotional message to her late husband, calling him a "blessing" and stating, "my heart will always find its way to you." Wehr's mother described him as a "magnificent man," and his sister expressed her intention to live life in his memory. Kramer's sister remembered her as "so much more than just my best friend," and a friend described her as "unbelievably full of life."
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
