Whoopi Goldberg brought pregnant actress Anne Hathaway to tears with an emotional statement on Monday's episode of "The View." Goldberg, 70, praised Hathaway, 43, for her career growth, calling her a "fabulous actress."
Hathaway, who is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman, appeared on the talk show with "Odyssey" co-star Matt Damon and director Christopher Nolan. As Goldberg delivered her heartfelt remarks, Hathaway clasped her hands over her face, visibly emotional.
"No, don't!" Hathaway said, beginning to cry. "Girl! Yes! Yes! You need to know. You need to know," Goldberg responded, emphasizing the importance of the affirmation.
Hathaway, who is currently pregnant, quipped that she would be crying even if she were not expecting. She told Goldberg, "I don’t even know what to say. Thank you. You know how I feel about you."
Hathaway also spoke about her co-star Matt Damon, whom she has admired since they first met at the Oscars. She described him as feeling like "home" and thanked him for always being "upright and great and fabulous."
Last month, Hathaway confirmed her pregnancy in an Instagram video. She and Shulman, a jewelry line co-founder, also have two sons: Jonathan, born in 2016, and Jack, born in 2019.
