White House Slams Special Counsel Jack Smith as 'Scumbag' Over Concert Shirt

The White House sharply criticized former special counsel Jack Smith on Monday, labeling him a "scumbag" and a "partisan attack rat" after images surfaced of him wearing a "No Kings" T-shirt at a Bruce Springsteen concert over the weekend.

White House communications director Steven Cheung made the remarks on X, formerly Twitter, in response to the photographs of Smith, who led the prosecution of former President Donald Trump in two criminal cases. Cheung asserted that Smith "weaponized the justice system against President Trump for political purposes" and warned that "they won’t go after innocent Americans again if they get their way."

The images showed Smith, 57, at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, attending a concert that featured Springsteen and the E-Street Band, among other artists. The concert was titled "Power to the People."

Last week, Smith testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding the investigation that resulted in indictments against Trump. The charges included attempting to overturn the 2020 election results and mishandling national security documents at Mar-a-Lago.

During his testimony, Smith stated, "I am not a politician and I have no partisan loyalty. My career has been dedicated to serving our country by upholding the rule of law and the core principles upon which our country was founded."
