White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, on maternity leave, recently shared a personal moment with her newborn daughter, Viviana, on Instagram. Leavitt posted a photograph of herself holding Viviana, who was seven weeks old at the time, accompanied by lyrics from Taylor Swift's song "Never Grow Up." The choice of song, however, could potentially draw criticism from President Donald Trump, who has publicly voiced his dislike for Swift on multiple occasions.
Trump has taken to his social media platform, Truth Social, several times to express his negative feelings about the singer. In September 2024, shortly after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for the presidential election, Trump reportedly stated he "hated" the star. In May 2025, he questioned Swift's public image, asking on Truth Social if she was "no longer 'HOT?'" He continued to criticize Swift, contrasting her with Sydney Sweeney, in August of the same year, labeling Swift as "woke" and "for losers."
Leavitt, 28, who welcomed Viviana on May 1, has been on maternity leave since early May. Her daughter's birth followed an attempted assassination of President Trump at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in April. Leavitt herself worked until she was 39 weeks pregnant, appearing at the podium in the aftermath of the shooting before beginning her leave.
During Leavitt's absence, other members of the administration, including Vice President J.D. Vance, have been covering White House press briefings. Leavitt and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, 60, are also parents to son Niko, who will turn two next month.
Leavitt has shared other moments from her maternity leave, including an appearance with her husband at Donald Trump's birthday UFC fight on June 14. She has not yet announced a return date to the White House.
