White House Aide Advocates for Deported Reality Star's Second Chance

Lynne Patton, a former senior White House official who worked on coalition policy and engagement, has publicly advocated for Joe Giudice, the deported ex-husband of reality television star Teresa Giudice, emphasizing the importance of second chances. Patton, who has known the Giudice family for nearly two decades, shared her own experience with cocaine addiction and recovery in an Instagram post.

Patton detailed how she relapsed in 2013 while working at the Trump Organization, and credited Eric Trump and Lara Trump with staging an intervention that she believes saved her life. She stated that she has been drug-free for 13 years and that the Trumps' support, rather than leading to her dismissal, resulted in increased responsibility and promotions, including a request from President Donald Trump to join him in Washington D.C.

This personal narrative shaped Patton's belief in redemption. She explained that while she has no authority over presidential pardons, which are solely the decision of the President based on recommendations from the White House Pardon Czar and Counsel, she feels compelled by her faith to support the idea of a father's presence in his children's lives.

Joe Giudice was deported to Italy in 2019 after serving 41 months in federal prison for fraud-related offenses. His daughters, including Gia Giudice, have been active in seeking his return to the United States. Gia Giudice has publicly supported her father's efforts, noting that the family filed a humanitarian packet as part of their quest for a presidential pardon. A pardon, however, does not automatically guarantee a return to the U.S., as its immigration consequences are case-specific.

Patton's Instagram post included photographs of her with the Giudice family, including Joe, and with members of the Trump family. She also shared images of Teresa and Gia Giudice during a visit to the White House, noting it was an invitation from the President and First Lady in honor of Columbus Day and Italian-American Heritage Month. In her post, Patton wrote, "Do I believe that Joe deserves a second chance? Unfortunately, it is not my place to decide. But what I do know is that one of his beautiful daughters desperately needs him now more than ever. And even God supports that."

The comments on Patton's post showed a divided public reaction. Some users expressed support for Joe Giudice's return, while others argued that his past criminal convictions should preclude such consideration. The Giudice family members, including Joe and Gia, responded positively to Patton's message on Instagram.
