Where is the Cast of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman Now?

The Wild West saga Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, which first captivated audiences in 1993, is returning to UK screens, offering a new generation a chance to follow the adventures of Dr. Michaela Quinn and her frontiersman partner, Byron Sully. The show, which originally ran on CBS from 1993 to 1998, remains a significant entry in the Western genre, predating the popularity of series like Deadwood and Yellowstone.

The Lead Stars: Jane Seymour and Joe Lando

Jane Seymour, now 75, starred as Dr. Michaela 'Mike' Quinn, a physician from Boston who ventured west to establish a practice in 1860s Colorado Springs. Seymour was already known for her role as the Bond girl Solitaire in the 1973 film Live and Let Die before taking on the part of Dr. Quinn. Her career has since included roles in films like Wedding Crashers and The War with Grandpa, as well as writing several books. She has been reunited with Joe Lando in the fifth series of Acorn TV's Harry Wild and recently became engaged to musician John Zambetti.

Joe Lando, 64, portrayed the rugged frontiersman Byron Sully. Lando, who previously starred as Jake Harrison in the soap opera One Life to Live, was drawn to the role of a cowboy. His career post-Dr. Quinn includes appearances in series such as Guiding Light and The Bold and the Beautiful. He has also reunited with Seymour for projects like Friendsgiving and A Christmas Spark. Lando and Seymour, despite a brief romantic involvement during the pilot filming, have maintained a close friendship, often describing their dynamic as akin to an "old married couple." Lando has been married to Kirsten Barlow since 1997, and they have four children.

The Adopted Children and Supporting Cast

Chad Allen, who played Matthew, the eldest of Dr. Quinn's adopted children, transitioned from acting to a career in clinical psychology. Allen, who had childhood roles in St. Elsewhere and Our House, also became a prominent LGBTQ+ activist after being outed in 1996. He co-founded the production company Mythgarden before pursuing his academic career, earning a degree in psychology and later a Psy.D. in clinical psychology.

Shawn Toovey, who portrayed the youngest Cooper child, Brian, reprised his role in the 2001 TV movie Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman: The Heart Within. He is married to Marianne Toovey, and they have children. Toovey is also recognized for his extensive charity work.

William Shockley played Hank Lawson, the town's saloon keeper. Shockley's career includes roles in RoboCop and Quantum Leap. He later co-founded Tiki Tane Pictures, a production company, and has written, produced, and directed the Western thriller Long Shadows. He is married to filmmaker Tiiu Loigu.

The show's original run garnered four Primetime Emmy wins, and its abrupt cancellation in 1998 led to a significant fan outcry, prompting the release of two television movies in 1999 and 2001 to provide a conclusion for the series. Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman is currently airing on Great TV in the UK.
