Jennifer Lackard, a deputy police commissioner with the Mount Vernon Police Department, was fired Tuesday after being accused of driving her son away from a Bronx shooting scene on June 29. Officials stated her termination was a direct result of the criminal charges and allegations filed against her.

Lackard and her son, Chase Lackard, face charges including attempted murder, attempted assault, criminal possession of a firearm, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment. Authorities allege that Jennifer Lackard acted as her 20-year-old son's getaway driver after he reportedly fired at a group of rivals outside the Bronx Criminal Court.

The City of Mount Vernon confirmed Lackard's immediate termination, emphasizing that the allegations were unrelated to her professional duties within the department. Both Lackard and her son were awaiting arraignment on the charges.
