West Virginia Mother Arrested for Husband and Daughter's Murders, Arson
Nicole Taylor faces charges after a year-long investigation into the deaths and a fire that destroyed her family's home.
A West Virginia woman has been arrested nearly a year after her husband and daughter were found dead following a house fire. Nicole Taylor, 55, is accused of murdering her husband, Robert Taylor III, 56, and their 21-year-old daughter, Cynthia, before intentionally setting their Harpers Ferry home ablaze on September 30, 2025.
Authorities allege that both victims were deceased prior to the fire. Robert Taylor was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds, though the cause of Cynthia's death has not been publicly disclosed. Taylor was rescued from the burning residence and airlifted to a regional burn center, becoming the sole survivor.
Following an extensive investigation conducted in conjunction with the West Virginia State Fire Marshal's Office, investigators concluded that Taylor was responsible for the deaths and the blaze. She was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder, arson, and the use or presentation of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Taylor is currently being held at Eastern Regional Jail without bond. Information regarding whether she has entered a plea or secured legal representation was not immediately available.
