A school in the occupied West Bank has been surrounded by barbed-wire fencing as Palestinian parents voice concerns over their children's safety amid an increase in Israeli settler attacks.
The village of al-Mughayyir, located northeast of Ramallah, has seen its proximity to Jewish settler outposts grow, with Israeli forces frequently establishing checkpoints at its entrance.
This year, six individuals, including three students from the local school, have been killed in al-Mughayyir as a result of escalating settler-related violence against Palestinians. In April, 14-year-old Aws al-Naasan was fatally shot by a settler near the school's gates.
International law deems all Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank to be illegal. Furthermore, many of the smaller, informal settler outposts that have proliferated around al-Mughayyir are also in violation of Israeli domestic law.
