Wayne Rooney has embraced the sartorial choices of United States men's national team coach Mauricio Pochettino, purchasing the same Hugo Boss suit the manager has been seen wearing during the World Cup.
Rooney, now a pundit for the BBC, revealed his fashion imitation during a recent broadcast, stating, "I liked it that much I went out and bought it." Pochettino, known affectionately as 'Poch,' has consistently appeared in a distinctive steel blue Hugo Boss shacket, white t-shirt, and coordinating trousers, often with his sleeves rolled up, a look Rooney described as "factory foreman chic."
Pochettino has reportedly had two versions of the lightweight, virgin-wool suit made for his World Cup appearances. The US team has achieved success in the tournament, qualifying for the knockout stages.
During a BBC segment, fellow pundit Micah Richards questioned Rooney about the identical attire. Rooney confirmed the match, adding, "The only thing I did before we came on air, I did roll my sleeves up a little bit. I don't think I could carry it off so I've had to keep my sleeves down."
Rooney's "glow-up" has been noted by viewers, with many commenting on his more tanned and trim appearance, along with a recently shaven beard. Fans have praised his on-screen confidence and healthier look, with speculation that he has overhauled his diet and is following a macro regime.
The World Cup has become a platform for managers to showcase varied styles, moving beyond traditional suits or tracksuits. Other coaches have also drawn attention for their fashion choices, including Bayern Munich's Vincent Kompany, Manchester City's Pep Guardiola, Sweden's Graham Potter, Belgian manager Rudi Garcia, and Swiss coach Murat Yakin, who sported distinctive eyewear.
