Rooney had first shared details about his nose surgery in August on his podcast, "Stick to United." He described feeling "a little bit uncomfortable" post-operation, noting the presence of plastic tubes in his nostrils during the initial healing phase. The surgery involved incisions under his nostrils and required stitches, causing some discomfort. He recalled the initial break during a game against Preston North End in 2015, and the subsequent break while playing for DC United, which resulted in a bloody nose and a black eye.
