Wayne Rooney Addresses Nose Job and Weight Loss Claims
The former footballer clarified the reasons behind his recent physical transformation, denying the use of weight-loss jabs.
Wayne Rooney recently showcased his altered appearance, featuring a refined nose and a slimmer physique, during an outing with his wife, Coleen, following their joint television appearance. The 40-year-old former footballer and current pundit has displayed a noticeable transformation in recent weeks, which includes smoother skin and a leaner frame.
Rooney addressed speculation about his weight loss, specifically refuting claims that he has used weight-loss jabs. He stated in an interview ahead of the premiere of their new Disney+ series, "The Real Rooneys," that he "worked really hard" in the gym to achieve his current physique and dismissed the notion of using injections. "Apparently I've seen recently I've been taking this pen thing about me. It's a shame, because I'm working really hard to lose weight," he said.
Coleen Rooney also contributed to the discussion, revealing that she had encouraged her husband to undergo a nose job, partly to address his long-standing snoring issues. "I tried to get him to do it because of his snoring," she explained. Wayne clarified that the surgery was medically necessary after he broke his nose twice during his football career, first while playing for Manchester United in an FA Cup game against Preston North End in 2015, and again while playing for DC United. He explained that after the second break, he "couldn't blow one side out of my nose and so I had it fixed."
The couple's new documentary series, "The Real Rooneys," offers viewers a look into their family life with their four sons: Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass. The show was filmed last year and covers a significant period in Rooney's career, including his departure as manager for Plymouth Argyle.
Coleen Rooney also shared insights into her own fitness routine, emphasizing the importance of regular exercise for maintaining her well-being and managing her physique. "It's one of those things, I have to go to the gym to maintain because I'm only short, I want to enjoy my food," she stated. "If I don't work at it I will put weight on and so that's something I have to do for myself, and to feel good, so I do go to Pilates."
This public appearance and clarification follow Rooney's earlier confirmation of his nose surgery in August, which he discussed on his podcast "Stick to United." At that time, he mentioned feeling "a little bit uncomfortable" post-surgery and described the presence of plastic tubes in his nose, which were removed soon after. He detailed the surgical process, noting that the breaks to his nose likely affected his nasal septum and cartilage, potentially impacting his breathing.
