Wayne Gretzky attended both an extravagant wedding ceremony for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce in New York City and cheered on Canada at the World Cup in Houston within a 24-hour span. The hockey icon was spotted in Houston on Saturday as Canada was eliminated from the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Morocco.

Just hours before appearing at the World Cup, the 65-year-old was among an estimated 1,000 guests at the wedding of Swift and Kelce held at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. Gretzky attended the ceremony with his wife, Janet, and his daughter, Paulina, who is married to golfer Dustin Johnson.

Gretzky has recently faced public scrutiny in Canada due to his ongoing friendship with President Donald Trump. Swift and Gretzky, along with Kelce, were previously photographed together at the Stanley Cup Finals in June 2025, a sighting that drew criticism from some fans due to Gretzky's relationship with Trump. Kelce and his brother Jason had also previously welcomed Gretzky onto their podcast, "New Heights."

Despite potential controversy, Gretzky was a guest at the Swift-Kelce wedding and shared a photo from the event, calling it a "great night." He then made a journey of approximately 1,600 miles from New York City to Houston to support the Canadian national soccer team.

The wedding at Madison Square Garden featured a wide array of notable figures from entertainment and sports, including Bradley Cooper, Steven Spielberg, and Jay-Z. However, Kansas City Chiefs player Harrison Butker, a teammate of Travis Kelce, was reportedly not among the invited guests. Butker previously garnered significant public attention and controversy for remarks made during a 2024 commencement speech at Benedictine College, where he suggested women should prioritize domestic roles and expressed views on abortion and the LGBTQ+ community. Kelce had previously defended Butker on his podcast, stating that while he disagreed with many of Butker's opinions, he did not believe in judging individuals based on their personal beliefs.
