Wayfair Furniture Review: Quality Picks, Budget-Friendly Finds
An in-depth look at Wayfair's offerings, from shipping and assembly to specific product recommendations.
Wayfair, a leading online retailer for home goods, offers a vast selection of furniture and decor, catering to various budgets and styles. Founded in 2002, the company has become a go-to destination for consumers looking to furnish their homes, with a wide range of products from popular brands like AllModern, Joss & Main, and Birch Lane, as well as its own Wayfair Basics line.
Way Day Sale Event
Wayfair's largest sales event of the year, Way Day, typically offers discounts of up to 80% across most categories. This year's event is scheduled to run from Saturday, October 24 to Monday, October 26, with early access beginning on Monday, October 19.
Product Quality and Pricing
The quality of Wayfair furniture varies depending on the brand, price point, and materials used. While more affordable options may be made with engineered wood, mid-range and premium selections often feature solid wood and higher-quality finishes. Prices for smaller items like chairs and side tables can start around $50 to $150, with larger pieces such as sofas and dining tables ranging from $200 to $800. High-end items can cost between $1,000 and $5,000 or more.
Shipping and Delivery
Wayfair provides several shipping options. Standard shipping for smaller items typically takes 3 to 7 business days and is often free for orders over $35. Larger furniture items are delivered via white glove service or freight shipping, which can take 7 to 14 business days and includes assembly and placement. Express shipping for select items is available for 1–2 business days at an additional cost.
Customer Reviews and Recommendations
A personal review highlights several Wayfair purchases, including the Joss & Main Hanson Upholstered Wingback Bed, praised for its luxurious design and sturdy construction, and the Laurel Foundry Modern Farmhouse Allyssa 3-Drawer Dresser, used successfully as nightstands due to their generous size. While the Charlton Home Mid Century Bedroom Dresser with 8 Drawers and the Lark Manor Alance 5-Drawer Dresser are considered functional and budget-friendly, they have limitations in drawer depth and stability.
The Lark Manor Armania Swivel Upholstered Counter Stools are noted as comfortable and easy to assemble, suitable for entertaining, though their frames are not scratch-resistant. For those seeking alternatives, the Charlton Home Mid Century Bedroom Dresser with 8 Drawers is suggested as a budget-friendly option, though it may not fully accommodate extensive storage needs.
Assembly and Services
While Wayfair furniture is generally designed for straightforward assembly, the article advises caution regarding their partnership with Angi for assembly services, citing issues with no-shows and scheduling mix-ups. The reviewer suggests using this service only for single-item orders until internal issues are resolved.
Overall, Wayfair is presented as a worthwhile option for shoppers seeking affordable furniture and home decor, provided they thoroughly research product reviews and understand shipping and return policies. The platform's frequent sales, diverse selection, and convenient delivery options make it an attractive choice for furnishing a home on a budget.
