South East Water (SEW) has announced that drinking water supplies have been restored to approximately 7,400 properties in Kent that were previously experiencing no water or low pressure. The disruptions affected over 8,000 customers and were attributed to a combination of prolonged hot weather, high demand, pipe bursts, and power issues.

Mike Court, SEW's incident manager, confirmed that supplies have been returned to homes in Herne Bay, Rough Common, and Blean. However, around 400 properties in the Benenden, Cranbrook, and Rolvenden areas continue to experience either low pressure or a complete lack of water. Residents in Herne Bay may still encounter intermittent supplies.

Some customers had been informed that it could take several days for service to be fully restored, with many having already endured days without water. A bottled water station in Cranbrook, which has been one of the most severely affected areas alongside Benenden, has been reopened. Court noted that water levels in the storage tanks supplying the affected regions remain critically low. Consequently, SEW is urging all customers to continue conserving water and use it only for essential purposes.
