Chessington World of Adventures closed its gates for the day on Monday due to a water outage affecting the local area, the resort announced. The closure impacted the theme park and zoo located in south-west London.
The resort stated that tickets booked for the affected Monday would be either refunded or could be re-used for a future visit. Specific details regarding the cause of the water outage or an estimated time for service restoration were not immediately provided.
The closure occurred during the peak of the school summer holidays, a period typically characterized by high visitor numbers at UK theme parks. Chessington extended an apology to its guests for the inconvenience caused and expressed gratitude for their understanding.
This is not the first time the park has faced operational disruptions due to water supply issues. In July 2018, Chessington World of Adventures also shut down for a day following a burst water main that left surrounding homes and businesses with limited or no water supply.
