Warren Sapp in Tailgate Altercation with Florida State Fan

Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp was involved in an altercation at a tailgate event on Saturday during the Miami vs. Florida State game in Miami Gardens, Florida. A video shared on Facebook shows Sapp, an alumnus of the University of Miami, holding an umbrella during rainy weather.

A Florida State fan, playfully trash-talking, extended his head under Sapp's umbrella for cover without apparent permission. In the video, Sapp is heard telling the fan, "Don't do that," and repeatedly poked the umbrella towards him before kicking him. The two then began to argue.

This incident follows Sapp's resignation from Deion Sanders’ coaching staff at the University of Colorado in February, which he stated was to "pursue other opportunities." Sapp joined the Buffaloes in 2024 as a senior quality control analyst and was later promoted to pass rush coordinator in 2025. During his tenure, Colorado's defense allowed a conference-worst 222.5 rushing yards per game and 30.5 points per game.

Sapp, a former NFL Network analyst, has faced past controversies. He was dismissed from the NFL Network in 2015 following an arrest for allegedly soliciting a prostitute and assault. He was also arrested for domestic battery in 2010.

Sapp played 13 seasons in the NFL, primarily with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he recorded 96.5 sacks. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
