Warren Buffett Named Chairman Emeritus of Berkshire Hathaway; Son Howard Succeeds Him

Warren Buffett, the 96-year-old titan of investing, has been appointed chairman emeritus of Berkshire Hathaway, the company announced Friday. His son, Howard Buffett, who has served on Berkshire's board since 1993, will assume the role of chairman.

In a statement, Buffett cited the inevitable passage of time, stating, "Father Time always wins. He has, however, been generous with me." As chairman emeritus, Buffett will remain a member of the board and continue to contribute his insights.

Buffett, renowned for transforming Berkshire Hathaway from a struggling textile mill into an investment powerhouse worth over $1 trillion, is known for his disciplined, long-term investment strategy. His tenure has been marked by consistent gains that have often surpassed market benchmarks, establishing him as a trusted figure in capital management.

This transition follows Buffett's earlier step down as CEO earlier this year, a position he relinquished to his long-time lieutenant, Greg Abel. Abel acknowledged the enduring influence of Buffett's leadership, remarking, "The culture Warren built and the values he championed will remain at the heart of Berkshire, and Howard will be their guardian."
