Kettle Cuisine LLC is voluntarily recalling more than 3,000 Marketside 14-ounce Tomato Bisque Soup Kits due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes, according to an announcement from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The affected soup kits, identified by UPC 194346474004 and a use-by date of August 22, 2026, were distributed to Walmart stores across 29 states between June 30 and July 7.

The recall was initiated after routine product testing revealed a positive result for Listeria. The impacted states include Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

Consumers are strongly advised not to consume, serve, sell, or distribute the recalled soup. It is recommended that the product be disposed of or returned to Walmart for a full refund. The FDA cautioned that the smell or appearance of the product may not indicate contamination.

Kettle Cuisine has reported no confirmed illnesses associated with this recall to date. However, individuals who have handled the recalled soup should thoroughly wash their hands and sanitize any surfaces or utensils that may have come into contact with it.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection. Symptoms typically include fever, headache, muscle pain, diarrhea, and vomiting. While most healthy individuals experience mild illness, pregnant women, young children, adults over 65, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for severe, potentially life-threatening complications. These can include invasive infections that spread beyond the digestive system, leading to symptoms such as confusion, stiff neck, and seizures. In severe cases, listeriosis can result in pneumonia, sepsis, and even death, with about 1 in 6 infected individuals dying from invasive listeriosis.

Symptoms of listeriosis can appear from a few days to two weeks after consuming contaminated food. The FDA urges anyone experiencing symptoms to contact a healthcare provider. For questions regarding the recall, consumers can reach Kettle Cuisine at 617-409-1104.
