Walmart Combines Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus Memberships in New Annual Bundle

Walmart announced Tuesday it is launching a new annual membership bundle that combines the benefits of Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus for $120 per year. This package offers a significant saving, nearly $100 less than purchasing the two memberships separately.

The combined membership equates to $10 per month, but will only be available as an annual subscription, with no monthly option or free trial offered.

Walmart CEO John Furner stated that the retail giant decided to introduce the bundled membership ahead of the holiday season, a period when consumers often seek ways to economize. "It does help at a time when we do see some customers showing some signs of pressure," Furner said, referencing increased energy costs as an example.

The introduction of the bundle follows Walmart's reported growth in its membership and e-commerce sectors during its most recent quarterly earnings call in August. Furner noted that membership fee revenue increased by 17% to an all-time high during the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. "Marketplace, fulfillment services, membership, advertising and other commerce solutions are strengthening our business, and they are improving the economics of the company," he said.

During the same period, Walmart+ membership saw double-digit growth, and Sam's Club experienced membership increases in the U.S., China, and Mexico. Furner indicated that the new bundle is designed to appeal to a broad range of income levels.

Individually, Walmart+ is priced at $98 annually, while Sam's Club Plus costs $120 per year. The new bundle is positioned as a competitor to Amazon Prime, which is priced at $139 annually.

Members who purchase the bundle will receive the combined benefits of both programs. These include free delivery from both Walmart and Sam’s Club, access to Sam’s Club locations and member-exclusive pricing, a choice between Peacock and Paramount+ streaming services, discounts on gasoline, and 2% Sam’s Cash on eligible purchases.

Walmart aims for the bundle to encourage existing Walmart+ members to shop at Sam’s Club and also attract consumers who may currently subscribe to competing services. "We’re deciding to do this from a position of strength and momentum," Furner added.

For current Walmart+ members, adding Sam's Club Plus will cost an additional $22 per year. Existing Sam's Club members can upgrade to Plus for $60 and receive Walmart+ benefits without an extra charge. Current Sam's Club Plus members will gain access to Walmart+ at no additional cost.

Furthermore, U.S. field associates at both Walmart and Sam's Club will receive both memberships as part of their employee benefits.

This launch coincides with ongoing economic pressures on consumers. The Consumer Price Index reported a 3.7% increase in inflation in September compared to the previous year. Gasoline prices have risen over 34% in the past year, while grocery prices have seen a 1.8% increase.
