Von Scales, Husband of Trina Braxton, Dies at 58

Von Scales, the husband of reality television personality Trina Braxton, has died at the age of 58. Scales passed away around 2 a.m. on Thursday in Atlanta, according to TMZ. He had been dealing with heart-related health problems, though an official cause of death has not yet been determined.

The family confirmed Scales' passing in a statement to TMZ, saying, "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Von Scales, beloved husband of Trina Braxton." The statement added, "The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers but is asking for privacy at this time as they navigate this unfortunate event."

Scales was featured on the Braxton family's reality shows, including "Braxton Family Values" and "The Braxtons." His health struggles were a storyline on "The Braxtons," where Trina expressed concern about his reluctance to seek medical attention. In one instance, Trina had to leave her sister Towanda's wedding to take Scales to the hospital after he reportedly ignored doctor's orders.

During an episode, Scales' doctor warned him about the critical danger posed by his high potassium levels, stating he could die without further treatment. Scales initially resisted going to the hospital, concerned about disrupting Towanda's wedding. The doctor countered that his death would be far more disruptive.

Trina Braxton was previously married to Gabe Solis, who died of cancer in 2018. They shared two sons, Eric and Caleb. Scales, an entrepreneur, owned a wellness facility in St. Louis. Their wedding was broadcast in a 2019 episode of "Braxton Family Values," which aired on WeTV from 2011 to 2020. The network later revived the series as "The Braxtons" in 2024.
