Virginia Man Arrested for Allegedly Tying Wife to Chair to Watch Football

A 64-year-old Virginia man was arrested and charged with felony abduction and misdemeanor assault on a family member after allegedly tying his wife to a chair in their basement so he could watch a football game upstairs.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance call at the couple's home around 11:30 p.m. The wife, whose name was not released, told officers that her husband, Terry Ward, had used tape to secure her to a chair in the basement. She reported being left there for approximately 30 to 45 minutes while he watched football. Officers observed tape markings and marks on her arms.

When questioned, Ward admitted to tying his wife to the chair and leaving her in the basement, according to a criminal complaint. Ward is scheduled for a court appearance on November 10 in Richmond Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

The incident has drawn varied reactions online, with some users expressing amusement while others condemned the actions as abusive. One comment read, "They arrested the wrong person lol... that man just wanted a moment of peace," while another user cautioned, "For those laughing, domestic violence isn’t funny."
