A video capturing a woman's intense verbal dispute with staff at Chicago's Beverly Country Club over the unavailability of caddies has gained significant traction online, accumulating over five million views since its posting. The incident occurred in the club's pro shop as the woman expressed frustration that caddies were not available for her and her guests, despite her prior arrangements.
"I talked to Kevin yesterday. This is not acceptable," the woman is heard saying at the start of the video. "I have guests that have played Medinah and they are playing Shoreacres. And they’re gonna get a s–tty — I’m gonna bad mouth this club all day if we don’t get this together."
She insisted on having "two caddies for three people" and stated that no one had mentioned using carts. The woman then addressed a man identified as John, who appears to be the club professional. "I wrote a letter stating that I need caddies. Nobody ever used the word cart. John, this is bulls–t. I am so upset," she declared. "It’s not unusual for Beverly to treat people like this, especially women, and I will address this. Because I organized this months ago. I wrote a letter yesterday that I never got a response from, and I called this morning, and this is how I’m going out to play golf. This is great."
John informed her that carts would be necessary because caddies were unavailable due to the fall school semester. The woman countered, calling him a "f–king liar" and pointing out what she perceived as available caddies.
She further alleged that the treatment she was receiving was discriminatory due to her gender, an accusation John denied. The confrontation concluded with the woman stating, "You can suspend me," as she departed.
Beverly Country Club has a notable history in professional golf, having hosted the Western Open, now known as the BMW Championship, on four occasions. Notable golfers Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus both secured Western Open victories at the club in the 1960s.
