Jimothy, a raccoon celebrated for his unusual physique and internet stardom, is the latest subject of a bobblehead from the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The museum announced the collectible figurine, positioning Jimothy among other notable figures like LeBron James and Johnny Cash.
Known for his distinctive short spine syndrome, which gives him a unique appearance, Jimothy gained widespread attention recently through viral videos shared by Seattle residents. Footage captured the raccoon traversing backyards and balconies, endearing him to a national audience who dubbed his popularity a "hot Jimothy summer."
Phil Sklar, CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, expressed enthusiasm for the release. "We're excited to unveil the first bobblehead of Jimothy, Seattle’s newest hometown hero who has a growing fan base across the nation," Sklar stated in a press release. He added that the bobblehead would allow fans to "show off their love and support for the pop culture icon and celebrate ‘Jimothy Summer!’"
The figurine, priced at $30 plus an $8 shipping fee, depicts Jimothy in mid-scamper, embodying his quest for "his next adventure in The Emerald City." The museum generally bases its bobblehead selections on public demand, historical significance, viral trends, and major sporting events. Museum visitors can now purchase the Jimothy bobblehead, which joins a collection of figures celebrating various cultural icons and moments. The museum has previously created bobbleheads for athletes, musicians, historical figures, and internet sensations.
