Freddy, the German soccer fan who gained widespread popularity for his enthusiastic social media posts documenting his travels across the United States during the World Cup, has returned to X, formerly Twitter, after a period of online harassment. He announced his return from Clemson, South Carolina, where he is continuing his American road trip.

Freddy had previously been active on platforms like X, sharing his experiences in various U.S. locations, including Alabama and Ohio. His positive interactions and genuine fascination with American culture resonated with a large audience. However, he faced doxxing on Reddit and criticism from some online groups who questioned the authenticity of his trip.

Despite these challenges, Freddy stated his decision to return was motivated by the positive messages he received on platforms such as Instagram. He noted that many followers expressed enjoyment in following his journey and that a small group of detractors should not overshadow the joy his content brought to others.

"For some people, it’s unfortunately unfathomable that a good story can exist without some kind of hidden agenda behind it," Freddy wrote on X, addressing the criticism. He also mentioned that this is not his first visit to the U.S., but it was his first time visiting Ohio.

His return has been framed by some commentators as a victory for free speech. Nick Adams, identified as the Special Presidential Envoy For American Tourism, Exceptionalism and Values, encouraged Freddy to persevere against those who attempted to silence him. Adams characterized Freddy's presence as an unintentional yet effective spokesman for the United States.

Freddy's continued journey includes stops in Augusta, Georgia, and various locations in South Carolina. His U.S. trip is scheduled to conclude on July 23. He had previously expressed that while X might not be as pleasant an experience as Instagram, the encouragement from his followers convinced him to return to the platform.
