Vincent Kompany Collapses at Bayern Training, Shoulder Dislocated; Doctors Investigate Neurological Issues

Vincent Kompany, manager of Bayern Munich, was hospitalized after collapsing during a training session, sustaining a dislocated shoulder. Doctors have ruled out a heart attack or stroke but are reportedly investigating potential neurological issues.

The former Manchester City player has been absent from the touchline since Bayern Munich's Champions League draw against Arsenal, following his collapse at the training ground five days ago. Kompany remains in a Munich hospital, where medical staff are working to determine the cause of his collapse. German outlet BILD reported that Kompany also experienced seizures after falling.

He was airlifted to the hospital via rescue ambulance. The German publication indicated that the condition is not considered life-threatening. While recovering in privacy, Kompany has reportedly received visits from club president Herbert Hainer, sporting director Max Eberl, and honorary president Uli Hoeness.

Aaron Danks, who is serving as interim manager during Kompany's illness, stated on Tuesday that the manager was in "good spirits" and "getting better every day." He added that there was no significant news regarding Kompany's diagnosis or return to work.

Bayern player Harry Kane echoed this sentiment, reporting that Kompany had called him and expressed that he felt "good" and "on the mend." Kane acknowledged Kompany's eagerness to return to the team but emphasized the importance of rest during his recovery.

Danks, who previously worked as Kompany's assistant at Anderlecht and served in interim roles at other clubs, reunited with Kompany at Bayern. He is currently managing the team during Kompany's absence, which is expected to last several weeks.

Initial reports suggested Kompany was recovering from a viral infection that had aggravated old scar tissue in his hip, causing pain and difficulty with mobility. Concerns have also been raised by club insiders regarding Kompany's "workaholic" tendencies, including insufficient sleep, irregular eating habits, minimal exercise, excessive coffee consumption, and an overwhelming workload.

Under Danks's interim management, Bayern Munich is scheduled to play matches against Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, and Mainz. The club currently leads the domestic league standings.
