Vince Gilligan, the acclaimed creator behind "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul," is facing significant pressure to deliver the second season of his series "Pluribus" – not just from fans, but most notably from his own mother. Gilligan shared during a recent appearance to promote the series that his mother, Gail, frequently voices her impatience, expressing a desire to see the show's continuation within her lifetime.

"My mom is always on me about it. She’s always saying, ‘I’m not gonna live to see this damn season two of yours,'" Gilligan told DECIDER. He assured attendees that work is progressing as quickly as possible, but cautioned, "Please bear with us. Don’t hold your breath. It’s gonna be a while."

Gilligan's mother has a history with his work, having previously made a cameo appearance in "Breaking Bad" as Rebecca Simons. While her potential involvement in "Pluribus" Season 2 remains speculative, Gilligan emphasized the need for patience from both his mother and the show's global fanbase.

The extended timeline for "Pluribus" Season 2 is attributed to the complexity of its narrative and production. "That [the wait] is not on purpose, that is NOT to make the fans frustrated with us. That is my least favorite thing about the process, is how long it takes. But it takes what it takes because it takes us quite a while to figure out this very complex story," Gilligan explained. He elaborated that the story's scope, which involves a "worldwide event," necessitates extensive planning and global scheduling.

Furthermore, the post-production process for "Pluribus" is significantly more intricate than it might appear. Gilligan highlighted that many visual effects, which are designed to be imperceptible to the audience, require considerable time and effort. This includes digitally erasing elements in every shot, such as background cars or passersby, to maintain the desired visual narrative and isolate the main characters.
