Viewers Spot Potential Traitor Slip-Up by Hannah Fry on 'The Celebrity Traitors'
Mathematician Hannah Fry's phrasing at the roundtable has viewers speculating about her allegiance.
During a recent episode of The Celebrity Traitors, mathematician Hannah Fry found herself under scrutiny at the roundtable, with viewers pointing out a potential slip of the tongue that could reveal her as a Traitor. While Fry managed to avoid banishment, her choice of words has fueled speculation among the show's audience.
As Fry defended herself, she discussed how 'clever' individuals are often wrongly banished by the 'Faithfuls'. She stated, "The mistake that we see the Faithfuls make time and time again is they take the people that stand out, the most trustworthy, the people who've got a reputation for being smart... and then the Faithful kill them and then you weaken the Faithfuls over all." Viewers on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) noted that Fry's use of "the Faithfuls" instead of "we the Faithfuls" or "us Faithfuls" suggested she was differentiating herself from the group.
This phrasing led to accusations of "othering herself from the Faithfuls" and "digging her own grave." One viewer commented, "Why did no one pick up on Hannah saying '& then the faithfuls kill them'? They banish, not kill, & in other series someone - civilian or celebrity - would have picked up on that." Another added, "So no one picked up on Hannah repeatedly referring to the faithfuls as a different group to her?"
Actress Julie Hesmondhalgh was ultimately banished from the game, only to reveal that she was a Faithful. Comedian and actress Miranda Hart, who has been actively trying to identify the Traitors, was reportedly leading the charge against Fry, but lacked sufficient backing to vote her out.
Hesmondhalgh's banishment drew significant reactions from fans who expressed sadness at her exit, with many praising her performance. "Julie was the best thing about this series. Absolutely cooked," one user wrote. Another lamented, "NOOO NOT JULIE!! I'm happy Hannah is still in but I reckon she's gone in the next episode."
In addition to Hesmondhalgh's departure, the episode also saw the murder of actor Bella Ramsey, a plot twist that had been revealed in a prior cliffhanger. The show has already seen the banishment of Traitor Richard E. Grant in the first week.
