Victoria's Secret Supermodels Candice Swanepoel and Joan Smalls Fuel Feud Rumors

Victoria's Secret Angels Candice Swanepoel and Joan Smalls have reportedly stopped following each other on Instagram, sparking rumors of a feud between the supermodels who have been friends for over a decade.

The speculation intensified this week when fans noticed the change in their social media following. When one fan inquired about their friendship status in the comments section of Smalls' Instagram page, a response attributed to Smalls stated, "I'm not friends with backstabbers."

This alleged comment, along with another that reportedly accused Swanepoel of not adhering to "girl code," has since been deleted. Screenshots circulating online, as reported by Just Jared, captured further alleged comments from Smalls expressing disappointment, stating, "And the disrespect and carelessness in how they treat you is so unimaginable." She is also quoted as saying, "There's no going back. Some people lack humility and moral compass. And the way they gaslight, lie and minimize your feelings is the worst slap in the face after 15 years of friendship. Not a sorry said or written. Onwards and upwards!"

Both Swanepoel and Smalls walked in the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, though no interactions between them were documented from the event. The pair have previously collaborated on professional projects, including starring together in an advertising campaign for Anne Klein just last year.

At the time of their Anne Klein campaign, Smalls spoke about the significance of the collaboration, calling it "incredibly special" and even more meaningful when done alongside her "best friend, Candice." Swanepoel recalled that Smalls initiated their friendship, noting that while she is generally friendly, it takes time for her to warm up to people. Smalls added that Swanepoel won her heart with her dancing ability.

Their close bond was evident in their past shared vacations, including a summer getaway in 2023 with fellow model Doutzen Kroes and actor Glen Powell.

Both models have maintained a degree of privacy regarding their romantic lives. Smalls was last publicly linked to businessman Henry Junior Chalhoub, with whom she reportedly split around 2021. Swanepoel was in a long-term relationship with male model Hermann Nicoli from 2005 to 2018, with whom she shares two children. Following her breakup from Nicoli, Swanepoel was briefly associated with actor Andrés Velencoso and rapper Kanye West.
