Victoria Beckham's daughter Harper banned from wearing makeup at school
The 15-year-old's request for her mother to intervene with the school was declined by Beckham.
Victoria Beckham has shared that her 15-year-old daughter, Harper, begged her to contact the school after being prohibited from wearing makeup in class. Beckham recounted the incident during a segment on the Today Show.
Harper, who is reportedly in the process of launching her own makeup brand called Harlo by Harper, expressed her frustration with the school's policy. "Why don't they want me to look my best?" she reportedly asked her mother. "Mummy can't you call the school?"
However, Beckham declined her daughter's request, stating, "I'm like, 'I can't Harper'."
This situation arises as Harper faces a hurdle in trademarking her beauty brand in the United States. A firm selling dietary supplements has already registered the name Harlo, leading to a refusal from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The office cited a likelihood of confusion between Harper's proposed mark, "HARLO BY HARPER," and the existing registration "HARLO," due to identical wording and similar commercial impressions.
Despite the setback in the U.S., Harper has had success with her brand in the UK, where the Intellectual Property Office has approved her application for "Harlo by Harper." The skincare brand for teenagers is slated for launch in the latter half of next year, after Harper completes her GCSE exams.
The trademark applications have been filed by Project Seven US Inc., a company managed by Victoria and David Beckham. Harper's middle name, Seven, is a nod to her father's iconic Manchester United and England shirt number, as well as her birth weight and birth month.
Victoria Beckham has previously predicted her daughter will become a "beauty mogul," noting Harper's interest in makeup and skincare, and her struggles with her own skin. The fashion designer has reportedly invested over $3 million (£2.3 million) into launching Harper's skincare brand, with initial accounts filed by H7B Ltd., a company co-founded by Beckham and Oliver Shipton, reflecting this investment. H7B Ltd., a play on Harper Seven Beckham's full name, was established in October 2024 when she was 13 years old.
