Ashley Garibay, a victim in the mass shooting at an Idaho In-N-Out, was passionate about her work at the restaurant, her family said in a statement.
In-N-Out Burger was Garibay’s first job, and she loved it, her family told the California Post. She frequently traveled to help open new locations, and her aspiration was to manage an In-N-Out store. Her family described her as someone who was “passionate about serving Customers and left this world doing what she loved to do.”
Garibay, who hailed from Stockton, California, was characterized by her family as a kind, adventurous, and driven young woman. They noted her smile and laugh touched those she met, and that she consistently prioritized others, offering help during difficult times.
“We are grateful for the In-N-Out Associates, first responders and those nearby who rushed to Ashley’s aid to comfort her in her final moments on earth,” the family’s statement read.
The shooting occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at the In-N-Out in Twin Falls, Idaho. Authorities reported a chaotic scene that unfolded both inside and outside the restaurant. Witnesses reported that the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Chad Williams, was seen with an AR-style rifle. Two armed bystanders reportedly returned fire. Employees also assisted injured colleagues, with one worker moving an injured co-worker across the parking lot before emergency services arrived.
Authorities stated that Williams acted alone and was later found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Garibay was one of three individuals killed in the incident.
