Vice President JD Vance is set to deliver a keynote address at the GOP midterm convention, where he will honor the late Charlie Kirk and articulate his vision for America by emphasizing the concept of a "birthright" for all citizens. The speech, scheduled for Thursday night, will also incorporate personal reflections on the recent birth of his fourth child, Alec, as part of a broader argument about family, economic opportunity, education, public safety, religious liberty, and homeownership.
Vance intends to sharply contrast the Republican Party's message with that of the Democrats. His remarks are expected to draw a direct line from the nation's founding principles to the inheritance of the country's blessings, asserting that these rights are inherent to being American, regardless of background.
"I believe the Founders built this nation on a promise that echoes our Creator: That every American child is born an heir, born with a birthright," Vance is expected to say. "Born with the right to inherit the blessings of this country. Not because of who their parents are. Not because of what they look like or where they come from. But because they are Americans."
The convention's inaugural two-day event aims to rally voters ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. Vance's speech will precede closing remarks from former President Donald Trump. The vice president plans to outline the future he envisions for both the Republican Party and the nation.
Vance also plans to pay tribute to Charlie Kirk, founder of TPUSA, who died a year prior. "History will record that your father was a great man. But those of us who loved him know something even better: he was a good man," Vance is expected to state, according to prepared excerpts.
