Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, welcomed their fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neel Vance, on Sunday. The couple announced the birth via a post on X, formerly Twitter.
"We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning," JD Vance wrote on the platform. "Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother." He also expressed gratitude to the medical staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit.
Usha Vance, 40, and JD Vance, 41, had announced they were expecting their fourth child in January. "Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July," an office statement posted on X read at the time.
The couple already has two sons, Ewan, 9, and Vivek, 6, and a daughter, Mirabel, 4. Vance had previously told the Daily Mail that they typically wait until after a child is born to finalize their name.
Earlier this year, Usha Vance garnered attention after responding to a New York Times analysis of her maternity wear. The article examined the political messaging around pregnant women in the Trump administration, referencing a Father's Day video of the Vances. Usha Vance commented on X about the focus on her attire, humorously noting the political significance assigned to her maternity dress and other clothing items.
