Vic Reeves Makes First Public Appearance Since Hospitalization

Comedian Vic Reeves, 67, made his first public appearance on Saturday since being hospitalized after collapsing at a wedding celebration. He was accompanied by his wife, Nancy Sorrell, at the Sky Arts Awards in London. The appearance comes after Reeves was taken to the hospital following an incident at the Hotel du Vin in Poole, Dorset, where he was attending a friend's wedding.

A source reported that Reeves "overexerted himself" during the event, leading to his collapse. Witnesses described a shift in mood at the party from celebratory to concern as paramedics were called. "The next thing he was being wheeled out by paramedics," a hotel source told the Daily Mail. "It all seemed to shift from lots of laughter to serious concern pretty fast."

Reeves's representative stated that he "was checked over and given a clean bill of health." The comedian, whose real name is Jim Moir, later appeared alongside Sorrell on the pink carpet for the awards ceremony. The couple posed together, with Sorrell wearing a red gown.

During their stay in Poole, Reeves and Sorrell, who married in 2003, also took a boat trip around the harbor. The pair are known to share a passion for birdwatching.

Reeves has previously been open about his past struggles with alcohol. In a 2020 interview, he recalled drinking lager and smoking cigarettes as a primary vice during the 1990s. Reports from The Sunday People have also detailed claims from Sorrell's friend, Caroline Steffens, about Reeves's drinking habits, suggesting he could consume significant amounts of alcohol and become incapacitated.

In 2005, Reeves received a 32-month driving ban and was ordered to perform community service after admitting to drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident. At the time, a court heard he was more than three times over the legal alcohol limit when his car hit a parked vehicle near his home in Kent.
