Vic Reeves Hospitalized After Collapsing at Wedding
The comedian, 67, was attended to by paramedics at a wedding in Poole after reportedly overexerting himself.
Comedian Vic Reeves, 67, was taken to the hospital by paramedics after collapsing at a wedding in Poole, Dorset, last weekend. The incident occurred at the Hotel du Vin, where Reeves, whose real name is Jim Moir, was reportedly celebrating with friends.
A source at the venue described the scene as shifting from festivities to concern when Reeves collapsed. "Vic was telling jokes and entertaining people - and obviously everyone was hitting the bar as the party went on just as you'd expect," the source told reporters. "But suddenly it appeared to take a bit of a turn for the worse - there was a commotion in the middle of the group and staff were being asked to call for an ambulance which turned out to be for Vic who wasn't looking at all well."
The source added that the situation escalated quickly, with Reeves being "wheeled out by paramedics." The comedian was accompanied by his wife, Nancy Sorrell, 52. The couple, who married in 2003, were also seen taking a boat trip around the harbour during their visit to Poole.
Reeves has previously spoken about his past drinking habits. In a 2020 interview, he acknowledged that drink and drugs were part of his life during the 1990s, with lager being a primary indulgence. Reports from The Sunday People have previously detailed concerns about his alcohol consumption, with one claim suggesting he could drink a significant amount of wine in a single night. In 2005, Reeves was disqualified from driving for 32 months and sentenced to community service after admitting to drink-driving and leaving the scene of an accident. At the time, a court heard he was more than three times the legal alcohol limit when his car hit a parked vehicle.
Reeves has largely transitioned away from his comedy persona, pursuing a career as an artist under his birth name. A representative for Reeves stated that he was "checked over and given a clean bill of health."
